The Discovery Center at Stony Point™ was built from the idea that learning should feel alive, Dynamic, and Never Static. What began with chess evolved into a thriving learning ecosystem connecting science, technology, engineering, art, and math — and the families who believe in them.
Here, curiosity is the curriculum. Every program, lab, and experience is designed to help learners think deeply, collaborate meaningfully, and discover how their unique way of seeing the world is a strength.
Today, we’re proud to be Richmond’s home for discovery and Wonder — where kids, teens, and adults learn side by side, each move and experiment shaping the future they’ll create.

Founder, CEO Rhonda Adorno
Founder and CEO, Rhonda Adorno is a lifelong educator and innovator who believes discovery should never lose its sense of wonder. With over 15 years of experience leading learning initiatives that blend creativity, technology, and strategy, she has helped redefine how families experience education beyond the classroom.
A graduate of Rollins College (2010) and Strayer University (2025) with a Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology, Rhonda combines academic insight with real-world practice to build engaging, future-ready learning ecosystems.
Her path began with a single chess club that grew into a network of programs across Central Virginia and beyond. In 2021, that vision evolved into the Discovery Center at Stony Point™ — Richmond’s first dedicated home for chess and STEAM education.
Known for her ability to connect learners of all kinds — from early explorers to advanced competitors — Rhonda’s work champions curiosity as the foundation for confidence. She continues to build spaces where discovery feels alive, belonging is natural, and learning is limitless.
Co-Owner, Khjyetta Singleton
Khjyetta (Kay - yee -Tuh) Singleton is a business strategist and community builder who thrives at the intersection of innovation and impact. With a strong background in entrepreneurship and project development, she brings clarity, creativity, and forward momentum to every partnership she leads.
As Owner and Director of Business Development for the Discovery Center at Stony Point™, Khjyetta oversees growth strategy, partnerships, and brand development. Her leadership ensures that every collaboration — from local schools to corporate sponsors — reflects the Center’s mission to make learning accessible, engaging, and transformative.
Driven by a deep belief in the power of connection, Khjyetta champions opportunities that open doors for families, educators, and organizations to work together. Her work strengthens the Discovery Center’s position as a place where curiosity fuels confidence — and innovation creates community.
